“Dreams come true in the wonderful waters of Africa: from mighty blue, black and striped marlin to wilt rainbow and brown trout, Africa has it all: Broadbill swordfish, Atlantic sailfish, barracuda, all the tunas, king mackerel, sharks, kingfish and dorado abound in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. The Atlantic Ocean on South Africa’s west coast is home to a sizable line fish fleet and supports a wide variety of bottom feeding as well as pelagic species- the strikingly hued Yellowtail is also abundant in summer and autumn. The best period for game fishing is from 1 November until 30 April. These species includes Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Cuta and sharks. The only gamefish, which can be fished in the winter, is “snoek”.
The best period for bottom fishing is during the winter months from May to October. These include Rock cod, “Geelbek”, Kabeljou and Tuna”
